No. 3 Ohio State leads No. 9 Indiana 7-0 after a quarter, but it didn’t look like it would be a close game for long. After Indiana was forced to punt on its first possession of the game, Ohio State responded quickly. The first play of the game for the Buckeyes offense was a 65-yard pass to Garrett Wilson. The second play was a 10-yard touchdown pass to Wilson.
Just like that, it was 7-0, and Indiana would be forced to punt once more. This time, though, Indiana’s defense would make a play. The Hoosiers have lived off turnovers all season long, and they picked off Justin Fields to get the ball back. It was Fields’ first interception of the season, but it wouldn’t be his last of the quarter.
Fields would be picked off again late in the first quarter too, but the problem is, Indiana hasn’t been able to do anything with either. It turned the ball back over on downs the first time and went three-and-out following the second turnover.
Ohio State is a difficult team to beat, and you have to take advantage of the chances it gives you. Thus far, Indiana has not been able to do so.
